Tutorial Guide

This set of tutorials provides step by step instructions for the installation, set up and networking of the Linux distribution openSUSE 10.2 as an addition to an existing Windows operating system installation. This creates a ‘dual-boot’ system, enabling booting into either Windows or Linux at start-up.
The tutorials also cover Networking Windows and Linux computers together, a brief guide on the TCP/IP networking system and a broader overview of networking and operating systems generally. Although this guide uses one particular Linux distribution because it is quite user-friendly for beginners, there are dozens of other distributions out there for you to try.
I am currently using Fedora 7 from RedHat, which I love, as it is a bit more cutting edge, but the general principles discussed in the guides will remain the same regardless of which Linux flavour takes your fancy!

openSUSE is the FOSS (Free and Open Source) version of the SUSE Linux Desktop Operating System from Novell.
Extensive and very useful openSUSE Documentation may be downloaded at no cost, from Novell.

As with all JWG Tutorials, screenshots are provided within the JWG Gallery, to make following the tutorials easy for beginners.
The simplest method of viewing the screenshots along with the tutorials, is to right click on the first screenshot, and choose ‘open in new window or tab’, depending on your browser preferences. Then you can keep this new window or tab open, and browse through the screenshots in the gallery itself, by clicking on the next arrows on the right of the gallery screen.
