Tech news, Scobleizer, IE7 and more

Some people who are reading this, (waves to the three of you  ) may be aware that I have been attempting to broaden my internet horizons for some time now. In fact, this journey probably actually began when I started my IT degree course in 2003, and realised that there was more to the web than just making pretty graphics to display on it. Yes, I know that is what JWG is known and recognised for (if it is known at all  ), and the ‘web graphics’ in the site name is a bit of a give-away, but…….
I am very pleased that I can still be of help to those of you who are just discovering the joys of graphics, animation et al, but also hope to encourage at least some of my visitors to consider exploring other aspects of the web, and indeed computing in general. Validation

Monday, March 28th, 2005

OMGosh  I ran a page of my site through a validator. Silly me. It’s bad enough that the page had so many errors, (many of them duplicated ones), but then when I read up on the meaning of the errors… Continue reading »

Using CSS and XHTML

Thursday, March 10th, 2005

If you are going to make a website, you need to think about how you are going to structure it or, put simply: what are you going to use to write your pages?
Current best practice is to separate style from content. In a nutshell, this means separating how it looks (style) from what it does - showcases your graphics, sells your products, etc - (content.) Basically, you should use CSS to set out the layout, colours, fonts and so on, (the style); and XHTML markup for your site content. Continue reading »
