Supported File Formats in PSP

I just received this request for help:

I am having a problem lately with my Paint Shop Pro and my Animation Shop. I have tried 3 tutorials, (2 for blinkies and 1 for a glitter sig). I am doing fine with the PSP part but when I try to open the PSP file in Animation Shop, it says its not a valid psp file. Is this because I am using 9.0, and all the tutorials are for 7.0? This is something I have been trying to learn for quite some time now. I was wondering if somehow you could help me out? I’ve emailed 5 people.. no one has gotten back to me yet Please reply back at yakidil69@hotmail.com… if you can, and when you have the time! It would help me out very much! TY!

Upon investigation, I suspect the problem lies with Animation Shop supported file types. Animation Shop has not been upgraded in the same way that PSP itself has, and therefore still only supports the old file format of .psp and not .pspimage which is the default format for PSP 8 and 9. The solution is to save all psp files that you want to open in Animation Shop, (blinkies and animated sigs for example), in the format .psp and Animation Shop should be able to open them without any problems.
I have taken some screenshots for you to check if your version of PSP will allow you to save in the old format. PSP 9 should already have these formats in by default, but the screenshots show you how to add in extra file types if necessary. I have also added a few extra screenshots of the process to save your files as PSP 7 compatible, (Thanks, Kerry).

I hope this helps you to adapt any PSP 7 tutorials for PSP 8 and 9. :flower:

In the drop down box that appears when you save there are a few menu buttons to the right. click options and then save as psp 7 compatible

Thanks Kerry. Will that sort the problem out once and for all? (I feel a screenshot coming on! )

Right: I have added screenshots of the process to the folder, in case anyone is a bit confused.
